I started this company in 2007 after watching too many Huntington Beach homeowners get halfway through a remodel and hit a wall of change orders they never saw coming. Seventeen years and 4,000-plus projects later, the fix is still the same: a written price before anyone starts, a signed scope, and a 365-Day Done Right Promise backed by terms you can read, not an asterisk. I still walk jobs personally when the framing’s exposed or the roof deck’s open - that’s where you catch the stud that’s bowed half an inch or the valley that’s been collecting water since 1987. My cell’s on the office whiteboard if something’s not right. It shouldn’t be, but if it is, Clause 3 of The Haven Standard says we make it right.
Marcus T., Lead Technician - Kitchen & Bath
Marcus came up through cabinet installation in Santa Ana, spent six years running high-end kitchen jobs in Newport Beach, and joined us in 2019 when he got tired of crews showing up without the right hardware and calling it “a supply issue.” He’s NKBA-certified and the person who measures twice for your KraftMaid or Wellborn order so the panels actually fit against walls that aren’t square. Marcus keeps a magnetic stud finder in his apron pocket that’s older than some of our apprentices, and he’s been known to stop a demo mid-swing when he hits a wall that doesn’t match the permit drawings. He’ll tell you straight if your SoCal stucco substrate needs more prep than the quote assumed, and he’ll get the change order signed before the work proceeds.
Diana R., Senior Installer - Roofing & Exterior
Diana started on commercial flat roofs in Long Beach, got her GAF Master Elite certification in 2016, and handles our Huntington Beach roofing, windows, and exterior door jobs. She can read a roof deck like a roadmap - tells you in thirty seconds whether you’re looking at one layer or three, whether the soffit ventilation’s functional or decorative, and whether that “minor leak” has been saturating the OSB for two El Niño cycles. Diana’s the one who documents every shingle course and flashing detail with the photo record you get at walkthrough. Off the job, she restores vintage motorcycles and applies the same tolerance for sloppy work to both: zero.
James K., Service Coordinator
James answers the phone when you call at 11 PM because water’s coming through the ceiling, and he’s the one who makes sure a live person actually picks up - no automated queue, no “press 7 for scheduling.” He’s been with us since 2015, knows which Huntington Beach neighborhoods have the 1950s cast-iron drains that fail in clusters, and keeps the crew calendars honest so we don’t promise what we can’t deliver. James runs the Free Second Opinion program: bring him a competitor’s written estimate and he’ll review it line by line against our spec, no charge, no pressure. He grew up in Westminster, still surfs Bolsa Chica before dawn when the swell’s up, and treats a blown schedule like a blown set - figure out what went wrong, don’t make the same mistake twice.
Elena V., Apprentice - General Construction & ADU
Elena joined us in 2022 after finishing the construction technology program at Golden West College. She’s our fastest learner on ADU and home addition framing, partly because she spent two summers helping her uncle, a Huntington Beach concrete contractor, and partly because she asks questions until she understands why something’s done, not just how. Elena works under Marcus on interior jobs and Diana on exterior, and she’s already the person we trust to run the final walkthrough photo documentation - she notices the paint drip on the baseboard and the gap in the weatherstripping that most people miss. She’s studying for her contractor’s license and keeps a notebook of every permit delay she’s seen at the Huntington Beach planning counter, which is already thicker than most of our spec binders.
