Which Mighty Buildings Models This Applies To

Mighty Buildings uses a proprietary post-and-rail system with a 2.5-inch square aluminum extrusion and a hidden bracket design that differs from standard fence hardware. The current production lines we see in Huntington Beach are the MB-100 residential series and the MB-200 privacy wall system, both introduced after 2019. • Post wobble at the concrete footing. The aluminum post sits inside a galvanized steel sleeve that’s grouted into your slab or footing. In Huntington Beach, the salt-laden onshore wind accelerates galvanic corrosion where dissimilar metals meet, and the grout crumbles. We see this most often on properties west of Beach Boulevard, within a mile of the water.
• Composite panel gaps or bowing. The infill panels expand and contract with temperature swings, and the factory clips lose tension after three to five years of thermal cycling. Once a panel bows outward, the wind load multiplies and the neighboring clips fail in sequence.
• Rail sag between posts beyond 1/4 inch. The MB-100 and MB-200 both use a continuous top rail with internal splices. The splice sleeve is aluminum, but the set screw is stainless, and the differential expansion loosens the connection. A sagging rail transfers load unevenly to the end posts.
• Discoloration or chalking on the powder coat. This is cosmetic until it isn’t. Once the coating degrades past 50% gloss retention, the substrate oxidizes and the wall thickness drops. We’ve measured 2.5-inch posts down to 2.3 inches on fifteen-year-old installations near Pacific Coast Highway.
• Gate latch misalignment or binding. The Mighty Buildings gate frame relies on a floating jamb hinge that settles with the post. If your post has shifted even 3/8 inch, the latch pin misses the strike plate. Forcing it bends the pin and ovalizes the hole.
